Common Ground

Posted in General by Rachel on the February 25th, 2007

Quite a few weeks ago a friend brought round a DVD recording of the “Faking It” prog: This episode was all about a welsh lass who wanted to fake it as a burlesque artiste.

Not wanting to appear too keen to watch it, because I have two perceptive girls and I’m paranoid, I left it on the table in the front room. But as it happens, last night seemed bereft of anything decent on the box, so my wife and I sat down to watch.

Now, we don’t tend to talk about feminine stuff, because I think my wife gets the impression that I’m all the time applying stuff to me and not talking about it from a ‘normal’ point of view, or is that again because I’m over-sensitive?

Anyway, back to the prog. The welsh lass (can’t think of her name) was very shy and had big issues about a scar on her tum so her mentor, Immodesty Blaise, had her work cut out to bring Scarlet (that’s her stage name anyway) out of her shell.

Getting to the point, we talked about all aspects of the programme while it was on and I didn’t feel in the least bit self-conscious about it, and my wife didn’t seem at all uneasy. Perhaps part of it was the large element of dance, which my wife has always been interested in, having had classic dance training from an early age.

It seems you can’t force these situations to arise, but may be I’ll give it another shot at talking about female attire. Thinking about it my wife has mentioned I don’t comment much on the girls outfits when they’ve been on a shopping spree, and again that could be because I’m too self-conscious - perhaps I need to try harder?

MAC and Raq

Posted in General by Rachel on the February 17th, 2007

Copyright acknowledgement: MACWe see it all the time don’t we? The cosmetic houses promoting their products using celebrities. Nothing new or amazing in that.

But what I am totally bowled over by, is that the picture you see to the right is of 67 year old Raquel Welch.

I mean, how on earth does that makeup artist do it (photoshopping aside). I want to hire whoever they are - but wouldn’t be able to afford to.

Where are the wrinkles, the tell-tale signs. I’m nearly twenty years younger and still look like a hag by comparison. OK, still look like a hag, period.

Oh well, it’s given me a few ideas - really like the “tiger tiger” shade of lippy and the “Vital Spark” lipglass, finished off by the “Summerfruit” Cremestick liner. Total cost: £30.50. But drew a line at £29.00 for the four colour eyeshadow set. Mind you, if I could achieve such a transformation it would be worth it!!! Dream on…

Transgender Children

Posted in Transgender by Rachel on the February 15th, 2007

I came across this video on Joanna’s site. Please watch it, particularly if you are not transgendered yourself. But also if you are and have issues you need to sort out. This is serious stuff put across very well.

Transgender Children

To put a personal perspective on all this, I got to the age of 40 before I had my transgender issues sorted, and although I wouldn’t say the issues were of a  traumatic nature for me it certainly had a negative effect on my life/lifestyle.

Issues like deception, keeping it from family mainly. Doing what I did secretly. Feelings of isolation. Feelings that this was wrong. Knowing that what I did would be disapproved of. Worrying about whether this was a perversion, society in general seeing it as a disease/illness. None of this was understood in the 60s and 70s and society is only just becoming aware of the real issues. And, as ever, education is the key.

The people behind the production of this video deserve our support.

I’m just grateful that we’re moving forward, and society’s education today will mean a happier life for young transgendered people today and in the future.

But I have another hope. People will stop seeing us as transgendered and accept that gender is a spectrum, not a binary system. Some binary systems are good, such as computer ones, but it doesn’t work for gender. When society comes to terms with this it will be the dawning of a new day.

BNO 19

Posted in Trannie Stuff by Rachel on the February 13th, 2007

vr-bno-19.jpgFor those of you who don’t know, BNO stands for The Big Night Out and is a TV Chix event hosted by Jennifer English and Simon Ross. I went to my first one in November last year and ran into Pam who lives but 2 miles away from me!

But before we get into what happened at the club, I must tell you about a couple of ‘firsts’ I had before we arrived. OK, if this sounds a bit Trannie Checklisty just get over it, coz it probably is. :)

Having left Vanessa’s, with me being crammed in the back of her new XK, we headed off to Sainsburys to get some dosh from the ATM. But by the time we got there I was in agony from being squeezed into the back seats, and having to double up coz of lack of headroom. Of course, the waist clincher I was wearing didn’t help!

Anyhow, by the time we reached the ATM I’d successfully pleaded to be taken back to pick up my car. Now, Rachel’s never been to an ATM  before, let alone in a shiny gold lycra mini-dress and 4″ strappy sandals, so Jan (V’s husband) came with me, bless him. Just as well really. A group of lads aged about 16-19 turned up and all I got out of them were a few cheeky grins.

The second first (if you see what I mean) was filling up at a petrol station, and paying in the shop. This time I was the only one about and Jan stayed in the Jag while I went into pay. I have to say, I was a little bit nervous, but it was a lady serving and I just spoke naturally and we exchanged a few words about the freezing cold weather. That was it, no big deal!

Getting back to BNO, the place was heaving with trannies. We made our way to the top floor and found a place to sit. At least the club has a floor that’s not so noisy, because trying to hold a conversation on the floor below is well nigh impossible.

Now I’ve heard it said by some (who shall remain nameless, unless they wish to own up) that BNO is a meat market, but to those who feel this way I’d just say, “But a very nice one, nevertheless”. I mean, first time to the bar I had my arse felt by a gurl, and when I turned round her friend denied responsibility and explained she would have grabbed it much more firmly, and proceeded to demonstrate. Two feel ups and before I’d got to the bar. Personally, I feel they were overcome by the dress, not the contents.

And before I could get away from the bar a another gurl stopped to chat (hi Jodie) and assaulted my ears with compliments (very strange) but it only transpired that she wanted sex with someone, and when I explained it wouldn’t be with me to her credit she didn’t try to escape so we chatted for quite a while - actually I got to like her honest approach to life in general - nice gurl. Anyway,  hopefully you found what you were looking for hon. ;)

I was having all sorts of problems with my boobs going South and was cursing having bought a very expensive pair of self-adhering ones, but when I got back to V’s it became apparent that the dress was playing a major part in their downfall. Note to self: wear a strapless bra next time… and lose a few pounds (working on it).

I had a 10am meeting so called it a day at 03:45. Up at 07:00 and away by 08:30.

Must do another BNO real soon. :)

Glam Your Man

Posted in Trannie Stuff by Rachel on the February 12th, 2007

The Glam Your Man CompetitionWhile I was checking out www.rimmellondon.com, a site Julie had put me onto this morning (for something else) I came across the “Glam Your Man” competition.

Tell me if I’m wrong, but do you reckon there’s more than one tranny in the Gallery?

Next, I got to thinking about uploading one of my own? What do you reckon? Anyone else brave enough to play?
