Trans Femme Makeover and Photoshoot Service

Last year I decided to arrange a photoshoot to commemorate a significant milestone in my life. But it never happened for various reasons including the cost to be honest.

But last week I saw Nikki_sw’s profile on TV Chix and discovered a new service – Trans Femme. What’s more, their prices were extremely reasonable. In fact, so good I got in touch immediately and received a very prompt reply.

After the makeover and photo-shoot I sprung on them the idea of doing an interview for my website so you could get to know Nikki and Tracey a little better.

Here are the results…

Nikki and Tracey

Rachel: First of all, I’m sure the readers would like to know how you met each other?

Nikki: On the Internet.

Tracey: I met Nikki as Nik, but he also had pictures on his profile of Nikki. Nik is the first Tgirl I have met, his honesty won me over and I haven't looked back since.

Nikki: Honesty was the key for us and because of that I have a partner who accepts me for who I am and understands me. I think the Internet was the perfect medium for me to meet Tracey, because there were no surprises about me being a TV. The really cool thing for me was that it was a regular dating site that we met through!! I think I had a one in a million chance, and it came my way, I really couldn't ask for a better partner.

Rachel: Whose idea was it to start Trans Femme and why?

Nikki: It's something I had been looking into for quite some time and was originally going to get a friend who runs a beauty parlour to be the make-up artist but we never got round to getting it started, when I met Tracey I told her about my idea and she was keen to be involved so we decided to go for it.

Rachel: What were your biggest challenges in starting the business?

Nikki: The biggest challenge has been getting the word about initially, thankfully that is happening now and most of our clients have been recommended through word of mouth.

Rachel: Whose the boss?

Nikki and Tracey: In business, we both are.

Tracey: The rest of the time I am!!!

Rachel: How have you found working together?

Tracey: It's not like work for us, before we started Trans-femme we were doing this anyway, taking each others photos and creating new looks.

Nikki: It's not like work because we love what we do, it's fun and we're passionate about what we're doing. You get such a huge sense of satisfaction when someone goes away happy and full of confidence. Some people tell us the experience has transformed their whole outlook on life for the better.

Rachel: Your main services include makeovers and photoshoots. Who does what?

Tracey: I do the makeovers and then either Nikki or myself take the photos. Nikki generally deals with the majority of the technical side of processing the photos, updating the website etc., although I can do those bits, they're not my strong points. Nikki's background is in I.T., hence she is better at the technical aspects. My background is in Estate Agency Management so I'm more of a people person. It works well as we can both do all aspects of the business, so if one of us was away or poorly the other could still carry on, we'd never need to cancel a booking.

Rachel: What other services do you provide?

Nikki: We provide storage facilities, where people can store their girly belongings here and they can also come along and use the studio to practice make-up skills and dressing. We can do escorted nights out for newcomers as so many girls have never been out in public, purely because they don't know anyone to go with so it's a way of introducing them to other Tgirls and building their confidence. We also carry out shopping trips as some girls are too nervous to go and buy makeup or clothes themselves.

Tracey: Our services are expanding all the time based on the things that are being asked for by our clients.

Rachel: Are you considering offering other services in the future and how do you see your business developing?

Tracey: I'm sure the list of services will keep growing to keep up with demand and we're always open to new ideas on how to increase business.

Nikki: One of the possible ways are are currently looking at developing is to see if we can hire some space or a room in some clubs on Tgirl nights so that we can do makeovers for people who are going out and not confident in their skills.

Tracey: I think this would be a good avenue for us because we have an upcoming night out (8th Feb BNO) and I already have several people booked in to have their makeup done that afternoon who are also going to BNO. We've had to book a hotel room there for the day to enable us to fit them all in.

Rachel: Thank you so much for agreeing to be interviewed on the spur like this.

Nikki: It was a pleasure. And it was a great photo session.

Tracey: You're welcome, now have a safe journey home.
