September 2004
17/09/04 - Off to Angelic at the Pink Punters tomorrow night with Vanessa. Must speak to Becky Enverite and Laura Handbag if I get the chance - I have my reasons!
18/09/04 - Despite leaving home half an hour later than planned, I arrived at Vanessa's more or less on time, in male mode.
Being the guilty party when it comes to making us both late whenever we go out I decided to paint my nails before all else, not knowing if the varnish (so-called sixty seconds stuff) would survive emersion in hot water when it came to washing.
So, while Vanessa made the tea, I applied a soft, beige varnish and she brought me up to date on family goings on.
It seems her daughters now pinch her clothes, and forget to return them. Not only that, but when out shopping she has to be careful not to draw too much attention to the clothes she wants to buy in case they try to get in first, thus precluding her from buying the same item.
Well, you know how it is, they can't be seen wearing the same clothes. Oh yes, her eldest daughter, M goes into town with Vanessa for retail therapy.
Moving on, we got talking about work (Vanessa works freelance) and never feels embarrassed telling new colleagues about her lifestyle choices. So, this week as a result of colleagues questions, and her honest replies, they asked her to come into the office as Vanessa on her day off, which was Tuesday.
Well, they were so amazed at how good she looked that yesterday when they phoned up to check she would be in on Monday they reminded her to come as Vanessa! Go Girl! Will keep you posted - watch this space...
Having eaten, we went to get ready. Vanessa warned me she'd hit the catalogues recently so I was prepared to be sickened by another gorgeous outfit she'd bought and I wasn't disappointed - I just hope someone at Angelic caught her on film.
I chose comfort i.e. beige top, skirt and jacket that didn't require a corset, and a pair of matching beige T-bar shoes with 2.5" heels.
We arrived at the Pink Punters about 10pm and I couldn't believe we had to queue - shows you just how popular Angelic is getting! We opted for buffet tickets really only so we had somewhere to park our botties, and escape the disco beat.
So, who did we meet? Well, there was Zoey in an elegant long flowing black dress - only been dressing 3 months - must find out her life story. She looked as though she'd been doing girly things all her life.
I finally got to chat to Joanna the brains behind the Angels website - lovely girl.
And I was accosted in the cellar (bar) by Becky Enverite (figuratively speaking) so we retired to the corridor outside the Ladies where we could actually hear each other speak - which reminds me I must ask her how she achieves that flawless look with her foundation - absolutely no sign of the tell-tale shadow. I use a slightly heavier Clinique foundation, but I still get a slight shadow above the top lip.
Anyway, someone grabbed Becky so I disappeared into the Ladies only to get talking with a group of GGs, and one in particular was very friendly - a nurse - but then personally I've always found nurses very friendly.
We swapped stories and lip-gloss, mine (it happens to me every time) and got into those girly revelations that men just seem to miss out on - hate to say it but I think we "bonded" - LOL.
An hour must have gone by so I ascended to the Attic again to track down Vanessa, and picked up my fourth Barcardi and Coke house double - such good value (hick).
Vanessa had bumped into Claire who she knew over Cambridge way, and another girl from up my way.
Time just flew by and at 2:30am we bade our farewells and returned home where we chatted 'til 5:15am.
19/09/04 - 10:10am saw a very sleepy-eyed Rachel go downstairs to make a cup of tea, and by 12 noon I was on my way back home in male mode.
Unfortunately, I won't be able to make the Transmission event in Manchester on 16 October, but I've got something up my sleeve for November - anyway you'll know where to look in November, won't you?
