March 2008

09/03/08 - I’ve been getting a tad down what with all the shaving I need to do to keep the body clear of unwanted hair. So much so I decided to book in with Jenna of Electra beauty to see what she could do using Electrolysis.

She’s very busy so I’d booked two weeks in advance. Now normally the other half is at work on a Monday so I planned to go then, but true to all the T* laws governing the universe she’d taken some annual leave. So I just said I needed to see a client in Nottingham - sorted. Oh, and in case you’re wondering I doubt that me enquiring about electrolysis would have gone down well.

I’ve met Jenna before when I knew a girl called charley and they shared the same flat, so we’re not total strangers

Anyway, despite the strange road layout I came across trying to find the flat again I still managed to arrive on time. Will wonders never cease?

Jenna takes an Holistic approach to treating clients which meant a thorough discussion of the options open to me for disposing of unwanted hair, which even included information on anti-androgens - not something I’d considered before. But well worth the time spent. I may yet go down that road but not without a lot more further thought! And no, I’ve not decided I’m TS. But it could work out a lot cheaper than full, all over electrolysis…

Having discussed the options, Jenna started work on the back of my right hand. It was quite painful, but still bearable and did seem to get less painful as the treatment went on.

Jenna finished after half an hour and asked me how many hairs I thought she’d removed. I said a hundred, although I had no idea - 320.

The hand was now red and had white lumps that looked like a stinging nettle rash. Jenna asked me to call her in a couple of days to see how the hand has settled down.

She explained that because some of the hairs will have their own blood supply little red marks could appear, but that was quite normal. This has happened.

I decided not to keep my hand in full view of the family to try to avoid any direct questions. But if you’re reading this and thinking of electrolysis then be aware it won’t be easy to hide if on an exposed part of the body.

If you are thinking about permanent hair removal do check out Jenna’s site because there’s a lot of information about the various methods and the consequences of whatever route you decide upon.

10/03/08 - having the usual cup of tea in bed this morning (got a stinking cold BTW) and my other half exclaimed, ‘What have you done to your hand?’. Then she mentally answered the question herself and said, ‘OK.’

I wonder what she meant? Did she think I’d been over-zealous with the veet cream or a razor. I didn’t ask. Does she actually know what post-electrolysis effects look like? Who knows?

12/03/08 - I’ve been on TV Chix for quite a while now hoping to meet another T-Girl who is sane, solvent, sassy and local but was beginning to feel it would never happen. I was looking for someone prepared to go out and enjoy themselves. Those that know me know I don’t do dressing up and staying in.

Well may be the search is over. Today, after some advance planning, I managed to go see Jane who lives in a village not far from me. True to form I ran about half an hour late but had no problems finding her place.

Jane offered me a cup of tea whilst we chatted for a while and then I went off to the bathroom to get ready. It was a bit chilly so I decided on my black suede court shoes, tan leather trousers, new black top and a brown and black short jacket.

We’d already decided to go out in Lincoln, our nearest town. Before now I’ve been too scared when it comes to going out locally, but with Jane for moral support I thought, ‘Why the hell not?’

Jane drove into town and we went for a drink at the Horse and Groom, a gay pub close the The Brayford where we were going for a meal. This is the pub where I ordered my first under-age drink - it’s changed a bit! Very pleasant inside, so we ordered our drinks and grabbed a couple of armchairs.

I think T-Girls are losing their shock value, because no-one gave us a second glance. Time moved on and we soon needed to be making a move as ‘Why Not?’,the restaurant/bar we were eating at, stops serving at 9pm. Yes, that’s Lincoln for you!

Hardly anyone about on The Brayford, and Why Not? was empty too. Never mind, we decided to eat in the first floor restaurant overlooking the ground floor bar. Later a small group of what were probably students came in and sat downstairs, it looked like we had the restaurant to ourselves.

We decided on a shared meal for 2 cooked in front of us using Black Rock stones heat to 440 centigrade. It meant we had to keep turning the chicken, steak, prawns and pork (probably missed something out) so it didn’t over cook. It was different, but I’m not sure I’d order it again, because I’m lazy really and prefer the chefs to do the cooking - but it tasted fine.

The staff were lovely, attentive and we had a very enjoyable time. The music was at just the right volume and I’d certainly go again, but would like a few more people eating there too.

We left the restaurant just before eleven and had a nightcap back at Jane’s afterwards. It was a lovely evening and one I hope we’ll repeat soon.

Left to right: Nicola, Charlotte, Lesley, Julie, Janice and Alan

20/03/08 - All the usual madness and mayhem before going out; this time to a couple of bars and a restaurant Nottingham.

When Janice first flagged up a night in Nottingham I was going to change over at Charlotte’s flat, but I didn’t confirm everything was still OK with Charlotte until the night before. Silly me. With it being easter, Charlotte was expected home Thursday night so wasn’t going to be at the flat. She did say she felt bad about it, but it was so totally not her fault. As usual, my trannie powers of organisation had gone totally outa the window!

So to plan B. Enlisting the help of my new makeup consultant - another story. She’d said I’d be welcome to change at her place if I ever needed to. Great, I rang her up in the morning, said I needed somewhere to change before going out same night - bless her she tried to sort it out for me, but in the end had other immovable commitments.

No worries, onto plan C. Janice had offered for me to change at her place. OK, it’s the other side of Nottingham, but I was just so grateful. Said I’d get to her place about pm and finally made it by 6.40pm. Janice was aiming to leave by 7pm and true to form because of me we left at 7.30pm.

By a stroke of genius we arrived in Huntingdon Street as a car pulled out of a space right in front of us, with enough room for both cars to park - brilliant.

Everyone else was there, so we grabbed our drinks from the bar and joined them. First person I spoke to was Nicola from Retford, lovely person with a fantastic attitude - more of that later. Julie and Lesley are a couple, but I’d never met Lesley before. Julie I’d met at a HayWay Weekend in 2000, aa event in Leicester. We’d emailed each other for a while afterwards and then lost touch - almost certainly due to my crap abilities to maintain communication! Julie even remembered me wearing my catsuit. Must have made an impression!

After speaking to Lesley and Julie I turned to the bar and caught the eye of Alan and Nicola’s wife (sorry, terrible with names). Alan said, “Hello, Rachel. You don’t rember me?”. My mind raced off in a million directions as the only men I’ve talked to have been on TV Chix and it’s only usually to reply to there gambits to explain that I’mnot looking a for a man. My jaw nearly hit the floor when he followed it up by saying he used to be Charlee. Charlee was a TS that ran Trans-Action and who I’d been to Leicester with on an abortive attempt to go out for a meal - long story. Alan’s really nice and so was Charlee, so no surprises there. He filled me in on what had caused him to revert to Alan. After that I ended up getting the lowdown on Nicola from her wife. Very interesting. ;)

Some of us were getting hungry so the party spilt. Janice, Alan, Nicola and her wife went to an Indian restaurant - the same one I’d eaten at in male mode when waiting to pick up my daughter from a gig at Rock City - yet another story.

Turns out Janice has eaten there a number of times and their very friendly, which in all honesty makes up for the decor, although it has had some refurbishment.

Sitting next to Nicola’s wife she told me all about Nicola’s trips to the local pub and how Nicola always tries to talk to the most unfriendly people she can see in the bar,and she doesn’t like to take no for an answer! The landlady has made a point of asking her to keep coming back, nice one. BTW, Nicola, as you can see from the photo had the most gorgeous layered, LBD on. Quite jealous really. Me, I stuck with leather trousers and long top as I didn’t want to freeze to death!

From the restaurant we walked to “The Central” and met up with the others. I spent the rest of the evening chatting with Charlotte, not the same person as “flat” Charlotte. She had the nerve to call me anorectic just by looking at my arms, but I’m a size 12 and she’s a 10 with a lovely figure, curves in all the right places - go figure.

Before we knew it time had been called and we were thrown out onto the streets (slight exaggeration there).

On the way home I pulled over at a secluded spot and with my new found love of baby wipes it was a simple job to remove the make-up, change and carry on home - all-in-all a very enjoyable night.
