Amazingly, I managed to leave home only quarter-of-an-hour late,
and on a Friday! For those of you who don’t know, I work from home, but this
never stops last minute situations that have to be resolved and usually means
schedules get thrown out of the window.

Never mind, I was on the road and heading off to a little Northamptonshire
village close to Kettering, on a lovely, sunny afternoon.

Vanessa, who I’d met at a local BS meeting had invited me, several
weeks ago, to try the nightlife in Leicester. So, with a nifty bit of arranging,
a trip to Manchester the following day was arranged with other friends that
live in Glossop.

Just after 6pm Vanessa met me at the door in male mode, and
of course I just didn’t recognise this person. Nevertheless, we had a cup
of tea and a chinese meal and discussed a number of venues we might visit
during the course of the night.

What I love about Vanessa is her totally laid back, flexible
approach to going out, whether it be nightclubbing, shopping or having a meal
in a restaurant all in girl mode. Personally, I’ve never dared go shopping
as Rachel, but have had a meal in the safety of a restaurant in the Gay Village
in Manchester. Mind you, I think you’ll agree looking at Vanessa in the photos,
she’s very passable.

After the meal we started to get ready, and this was my opportunity
to go through Vanessa’s wardrobe. A wardrobe to die for! Vanessa said I could
borrow what I fancied and her full length mirror made it easy to see what
suited, what I couldn’t wear (I can only get away with so much hair removal
before my wife complains).

Vanessa on the other hand has no such restrictions and chose
to wear a lovely matching floral design halter neck top and skirt, with no
bra. Falsies were attached using medical adhesive - tip don’t lose the dissolving
solution or you won’t get them off again!

In the end I pinched a red, rollneck, sleeveless t-shirt in
100% cotton. Vanessa decided this would look good with my lacy black ra-ra
skirt and 4″ black stilettoes. And an hour-and-a-half later we were ready
to go.

First
stop was The Dover Castle,
Dover Street, Leicester. A gay pub with a Tranny DJ with lots of attitude.
Vanessa mentioned a couple of other venues, but since we enjoyed ourselves
so much at The Dover Castle we didn’t move on and I can’t remember their names.

The Dover Castle is in the centre of Leicester and has a very
convenient car park right next door. Once inside the place was heaving (about
10pm) but lots of barstaff meant ordering drinks was painless, and very entertaining!

With loud dance music playing the barstaff were really into
enjoying their work, performing complex dance routines while serving the customers
- it’s amazing what you can do behind a bar while waiting for a pint to pour!
Not that I was drinking pints, mind you.

Vanessa was driving so it was Bacardi and Cokes for me and diet
coke for her, poor girl. And mine came with ice, lemon and a straw - ooh,
they do know how to treat a girl.

Moving
to the back of the pub, further away from the dance floor we had a chat and
eyed up the other revellers. Mainly a youngish crowd, may be a few students
and no lager louts. After a while the temptation to dance was too much so
we moved on to the floor and got another round in - I just love the dancing
bar staff!

Of course, you know what alchohol does so a trip to the Ladies
was needed. Here, I wondered if there may be a problem, because it was full
and I wasn’t sure if I’d be accepted, not that problems have been encountered
anywhere else, but the door was opened and closed a few times and it did look
very packed inside. However, once a few girls had left I slid in and there
were no raised eyebrows. But let’s face it, there was no alternative and no
way was I going to use the gents - I’ve always heard using the gents was like
proffering an open invitation…

Anyway, once I’d done what I’d needed to do and started touching
up with a bit of lip gloss half-a-dozen of the girls ended up pinching it
(the lip gloss, do you mind) and the ice was broken. Tip here. I’ve always
found the ladies is the best place to get to know folk when out clubbing.

After
that the GGs (genetic girls) were coming up and dancing with Vanessa and me
all the time. And I had a bloke say to me he thought I had a lot of bottle!
And he said it in a nice sort of admiring way. I said I didn’t know why, because
everyone seemed so nice and friendly. Anyway, he took some piccies of me and
Vanessa, and I persuaded him and his girlfriend to have one of them both.

Apparently although one of the resident DJs is a tranny not
many of us girls go there, which is a great shame, so perhaps if anyone feels
like going thay could contact me and hopefully arrange for a group of us to
go.

Later on, Vanessa requested one of her favourite tracks, “Man,
I feel like a woman”, and the Tranny DJ (Rusty?) obliged a few tracks later.
Vanessa does a very impressive Kareoke version of this and “That don’t impress
me much” - without the need for the screen showing the words - this is something
I want to see!

We
had a great time and ended up dancing to classics like “Tragedy” (surprise,
surprise), “I will survive” and others I’m sure you’ll know, and by the time
a few more Bacardi and Cokes had been polished off the music had taken a techno
turn, so we retired to the other end of the bar to finish our drinks and head
off.

It was now 1.40am so we never did get to the other venues, but
there’s plenty of time to revisit them another time.

Once back at Vanessa’s it was 2.15am and had we been sensible
we’d have gone straight to bed, but we sat up chatting ’til 4.15am, silly
airheads that we were!

Oh well, off to Manchester tomorrow shopping with my friend
Helena (GG). She’s seen a wicked pair of 6″ stilettoes with steel heels!
Her hubby decided he’d rather go look for computer games - sensible fellow.
