BBC1: Dress to Impress

Posted in General by Alex on the May 19th, 2009

Slightly unusual methinks a programme regarding transgender issues being screened midweek during daytime television, but BBC1 are, nevertheless, showing Dress to Impress on Thursday at 2.15pm. Also on BBC HD at 6.30pm.

The blurb says:

“A 17-year-old boy’s secret love of dressing in women’s clothes is discovered. The turn of events ignites a ticking time bomb that threatens to destroy his parents’ marriage and his family.”

Might just watch this.

I watched the programme. I thought it was very well written and the acting was great. It was quite moving to see how the lad felt he had to act and tell his parents about his desires in the worst circumstances. It was only a short programme and was not intended to deal with all the issues of being a tranny but I liked how the subject was dealt with and the way it was portrayed as not harming anyone or being ridiculed.

    xx

Is this available outside the UK? Sounds like an interesting show to catch.

    Hugs,

@Vanessa Don’t think so. It was a BBC production. A while ago you’d have been able to watch it again on iPlayer, but only if in the UK, as far as I’m aware. Sorry for taking so long to reply!
