The London Gender Clinic: Press Release

It really saddens me when people who run businesses try to help others and then get their assistance thrown back in their faces. Charging for services rendered is not a crime.

How would people who complain about charges feel if their boss expected them to work for free? What these complainers seem to also forget is that a business must cover overheads and wages. The total charged does not go straight into the pocket of the business owner.

Even if the company was not-for-profit, there would still need to be some charges (rent, drugs, equipment, etc). I don’t know the full background to these mutterings, so my comments can only be speculative.

An old friend of mine is a dentist. He started off as NHS, but due to the paperwork and the fights over (his words) short term bodges rather than true repairs, he changed the practice to private.

Yes, people did have to pay and yes, it did upset a number of folk. But it also meant that he could give a better service, although, obviously, only to those who could afford it.

  2. Alex says:

Yes, that sadly the case. The NHS for one reason or another don’t provide the same level of service that a private practice can, but then the costs of that higher level of service have to be met by the customer – simple really, isn’t it?

Sorry I haven’t been reading/commenting on your blog for a while – long story, but hope to get into gear soon.

  3. Vanessa says:

Sigh. Give people a bit of something free and they’ll expect it to remain so.

  4. Lynn Jones says:

It’s often the case. If you can’t wait, someone will take care of your needs – for a price.

As to the comments: hey, no worries.

BTW, judging by the Google Ads on your side bar, I think I’ve solved the problem for the clinic:

    “Gender Changers
Change the gender of your cable
    Prices from under £2.00
    http://www.cabling4less.co.uk

Bargain! I wonder if they do laser too? :-D

  5. Alex says:

Amazing! What next? Plug ‘n Play gender swaps. You’re a genius Lynn :)

  6. Sophie H says:

Ah but then they sting you for the downloaded upgrades once theyve got you. Lol.

Seriously though, very few people have even the remotest idea as to costs in the NHS. Its only if they go private that they get the idea.
